Judging the Philip K. Dick Awards

In 2018, I was honored to win a Philip K. Dick Award special citation for my novel After the Flare. It was a beautiful event – I met many wonderful scifi writers in Seattle at the awards ceremony, and deepened my love for the genre and the community. I’ll be judging this year’s awards along with several other prominent authors and editors: Adam Rakunas, Rebekah Sheldon, Andrew Kelly Stewart, and Marie Vibbert.

The award was conceived to acknowledge the quality and storytelling of mass market paperbacks, when award ceremonies were dominated by hard cover stories. It’s an honor to “give back” as a judge, but in reality, it’s a gift to me because I get to read a hundred or so novels by creative authors. Nominees will be announced in January 2027.
