Symphony for the Boo Hag

Thu, Dec 18, 2025 Read in 1 minutes

The Center for Science and the Imagination at ASU published my new short story Symphony for the Boo Hag. This emerged from a workshop with symphony musicians, conductors, and academics that asked the critical question - will the symphony orchestra survive? If so, who is it for? My story follows three kids who explore an abandoned house devastated by a hurricane. While they set about trying to make sense of their new reality, a spirit begins haunting the neighborhood.

I enjoyed writing this one. Read it here. You can buy the entire collection of fiction and response essays here.
